Coldplay Claims Third No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart

As expected, Coldplay climbs in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with the chart-topping third set, "Mylo Xyloto," sold 447,000 in its debut week according to Nielsen SoundScan.

 
Arc "Mylo which" marks the third biggest sales week for an album this year, after the debut of Lady Gaga "Born This Way" (1.1 million) and Lil Wayne "Tha Carter IV" starts (964 000). "Mylo" also get the biggest week for rock effort since U2 "No Line On the Horizon" debuted at No. 1 with 484,000 on the chart dated March 21, 2009.
Since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991, only five rock acts have claimed three albums that debuted with at least 400,000. Coldplay is the latest member of the group, which also includes U2 (three 400 000-plus debut), The Beatles (three), Dave Matthews Band (five) and Metallica (six).
"Mylo" is Coldplay's fifth studio release and third studio straight and set to reach No. 1. Two earlier - in 2008 "Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends" and 2005's "X & Y" - both debuted at No. 1 well, with 721,000 and 737,000 sold, respectively.

"Viva" blockbuster sales that triggered, in part, by commercial then-ubiquitous Apple TV iTunes album featuring lead single, "Viva La Vida." The first path to destroy this band (and so far only) No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This peak weeks prior to the acquisition of "Viva" album opened at No. 1.
On the other hand, "Mylo's" first single, "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall," peaked at No. 14 on the Hot 100, while the second song album, "Heaven," hit No. 15 last week.
The second highest debut of Kelly Clarkson's Billboard 200 is a "strong," which began at No. 2 with 163,000 sold. This is the "American Idol" champ fifth original album, and the fifth in a row to debut at position three. The last release, "All I Ever Wanted," was second No. 1 album, when her debut in the top slot with 255,000. The new album's first single, "Mr. Know It All," go up 16-15 on the chart pop songs played this week.
A step below is Michael Buble Clarkson, who bows first full-length holiday album, "Christmas," at No. 3 with 141,000. This is the fifth top 10 sets and first-time players because of "Crazy Love" bowed at No. 1 in 2009 with 132,000. Expect 'Christmas' "sales to grow larger as the approach of Thanksgiving and the holiday season kicks into high gear.
Last week No. 1, "21," Adele who slips No. 4 with 107,000 (up 1%) at week 36 on the charts.
"Clancy's Tavern" Toby Keith started at No. 5 with 69000-12 top 10 albums. His last release, "Bullet in the Gun," was fired at No. 1 in 2010 with 71,000. In the Country Albums chart, "Clancy" was his 10th No. 1 sets.

Tom Waits making waves as a singer / songwriter netting his first top 10 album - and the charter of the highest ever - with "Bad Like Me" was bowed at No. 6 with 63,000. Album sales week of the net's best since SoundScan began in 1991, and established the first new studio recording in eight years. In a chart career which started with the 1975 No. 164-peaked "Nighthawks at the Diner," came the previous high-water mark with "Real Gone," in 2004 which debuted and peaked at No. 24.
As for non-debut in the top 10, "Clear As Day" Scotty McCreery shifted 3-7 (42 000; down 25%), Lady Antebellum "Night Alone" moves 7-8 (31,000; down 10%), Tony Bennett "Duets II "went 5-9 (just under 31,000; down 21%) and Casting Crowns'" Come to the Well "fell 20-10 (30,000; down 70%).
Over on the Digital Songs chart, both the highest debut of the top sellers and have one thing in common: Rihanna. Riri was at No. 1 during the second week with "We Found Love," featuring Calvin Harris, which sold another 243,000 downloads (up 5%). Rihanna is also one-half of the highest tally debut at No. 8, where the "Princess of China," by Coldplay featuring Rihanna, bows with 105,000.
Directly behind the "Princess" is Kelly Clarkson's "Mr. Know It All," the cost of 18-9 with 104 000 (up 60%). Benefits of the release of tracks from the album's parents last week, plus show songs on "Today" NBC (October 25), ABC's "The View" (26) and "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" (28).
At No. 10, "Feeling Good" Flo Rida who take an increase of 63% of the song sold 100,000 and jumped nine slots. This is the eighth top 10 titles on the chart and the Digital Video is the first single from upcoming album "Only One Rida (PT. 2)."
The remaining 10 on the Digital Songs a bit static, LMFAO is "Sexy and I Know It" holds at No. 2 (206 000; down 1%) as well as "Someone Like You" Adele at No. 3 (150,000; down 14%). Foster people's "Passionately Kicks" rises 6-4 (132,000) despite a decrease of 13%. Maroon 5's "Moving Like Jagger" (featuring Christina Aguilera) was also up 7-5, although down 11% (126 000). David Guetta "Without You" (featuring Usher) moves 8-6 (117,000; fell 7%) and Gym Class Heroes' "Stereo Love" (featuring Adam Levine) jumped 9-7 (109 000; down 12%).

Overall album sales charts in the past week (ended 30 October) reached 5.61 million units, up 16% compared with the number last week (4.82 million) and down 3% compared to the comparable sales week of 2010 (5.80 million). Year to date album sales stand at 249.29 million, up 3% compared with the same amount at this time last year (241.94 million). This is week 23 in a row where the year-to-date album a greater volume than the same time the previous year.
Sales of digital tracks last week it reached 20.10 million downloads, down 2% compared with last week (20.48 million) and up to 7% stacked next to the comparable week in 2010 (18.77 million). Year to date sales are tracking at 1.03 billion, up 10% compared with the same total at this time last year (937.02 million).
Next week's Billboard 200 competes with the same week in 2010 when: Taylor Swift held at No. 1 with "Speak Now" shifting 320,000 (down 69%) in the second week. Jason Aldean, meanwhile, bowed at number two with "Party A little I" (193 000).
